Both right next to each other with seemingly identical environmental conditions... And the chance that those things weather at the same speed is practically zero. Examples of how 2 seemingly identical structures could endure different forces acting on them: Groundwater/proximity to water sources? Underlying soil composition? Drainage? All things that can change dramatically in a very short distance and have dramatic differences... If one sits in wet soil for more than the other, that ones going to decay quicker. Nearby topography and flora. This effects. Maybe one of closer to a hill or an area that provides conditions for tree growth... that shield it from wind, provide partial shade etc.
